An internal method that is used to represent different types of data stored on the computer is called data representation. The following number systems will help to understand data representation in a computer:
- Decimal number system – base is equal to 10
- Binary number system – base is equal to 2
- Octal number system – base is equal to 8
- Hexadecimal system – base is equal to 16
