Summary of the chapter The Final Flight
The story is about the world’s famous female aviator, Amelia Earhart. She attempted to become the first woman to fly around the world with her navigator Fred Noonan. She had flown non-stop from the Red Sea to India, and no one did before her. She was last heard from about 100 miles from the tiny Pacific Howland Island on July 2 1937. Her major endeavour had completed without any issues. The long-distance instruments were repaired, which had troubled previously by the time she became ill with dysentery, but it was a minor problem given the scale of task she had planned to do. She had faced no problem up to New Guinea. After they were flying from Lae, her plan met a tragic end. Amelia sent letters regularly to her husband, and those letters were published in the book ‘Last Flight’.
